PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following three wins across a six-day stretch, the Pace University men's basketball team hopped back in the latest
D2SIDA East Region Poll at No. 9.
The Setters' perfect 3-0 week featured triumphs over Le Moyne, New Haven and Saint Rose. Pace's record is now at 14-8 this season, which includes a 10-5 mark inside the Northeast-10 Conference.
A versatile, balanced offense has been a large factor in the Blue and Gold's success. Coach Healing's squad is comprised of six players averaging at least 7.7 points per game, including three at more than 12.0 per outing.
Junior
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) leads the way (15.4 ppg), while
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) (13.1 ppg) and
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) (12.1) are not too far behind.
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) also ranks first on Pace in both rebounding (6.0 rpg) and field-goal percentage (58.7%), while Jacobs is dishing out a team-best 5.7 assists per contest.
Powell's field-goal mark is currently fourth-best in the NE10, while Jacobs is also fourth in the conference in assists.
Freshman
Matt Constant (Laconia, N.H./St. Andrew's School (RI)) stands as the top three-point shooter in the NE10 this season, making 47.4 percent of his attempts (27-for-57) from long range.
Team defense has also been an important theme for Pace. In 15 conference games, the Setters rank second in the league in points-per-game allowed (68.3) and first in opponents' field-goal percentage (40.3%).
The Pace men's basketball team will return to action on Thursday night with a road game at Southern Connecticut State (7 p.m.).
