ALBANY, N.Y. – Led by yet another balanced attack, the Pace University men's basketball team rattled off a 73-56 win at The College of Saint Rose on Saturday. The Setters' third straight victory improves their record to 14-8 overall this season, including a 10-5 mark in the NE10.
Pace's versatile offense featured five players in double figures. Graduate guard
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) served as the Setters' top-scorer with 15 points, to go along with four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) and
Dominick Cristiano (Valhalla, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic/Greens Farm Academy) each followed with 13 points apiece, while
Austin Gilbertson (Etters, Pa./Trinity) and
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) tallied respective point totals of 12 and 11.
Cristiano finished the game with a team-high nine rebounds to barely miss out on his second double-double of the season.
Collectively, it was another strong defensive effort for Pace. The Setters racked up 10 steals and forced 18 turnovers. Saint Rose's 56 points also marked its second-lowest total of the season.
Down by as many as nine points in the first half, the Setters closed out the half on a 24-4 run. Pace's lead would grow to as high as 65-42 late in the second half.
