PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In another sensationally balanced effort, the Pace University men's basketball team recorded a 77-50 triumph at Southern Connecticut State on Thursday night. The Setters have now won four games in a row, while improving their record to 15-8 this season (11-5, NE10).
For the second straight game, Pace had five players finish in double figures. Remarkably, the Blue and Gold also had 10 different players record at least one point and two rebounds in the win.
In addition to the versatile offense, Pace's wire-to-wire win was catapulted by a dominant first half. A 17-5 start turned into a 40-15 advantage with less than two minutes left before halftime.
The Setters' lead ballooned to as high as 36 points with 8:14 left in the second half.
Junior
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) scored a team-high 14 points, to go along with six rebounds and two steals.
Matt Constant (Laconia, N.H./St. Andrew's School (RI)) followed with 13 points while
Dominick Cristiano (Valhalla, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic/Greens Farm Academy) and
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) each tallied 12 apiece. Cristiano also led the Blue and Gold with eight rebounds.
Senior
Marc Dadika (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saint Mary's Rutherford) rounded out the Setters' double-digit scorers with 11 points.
The Setters shined in many facets against SCSU, including a rebounding margin of 45-36.
Pace's defense limited the Owls to 17-of-61 (27.9%) shooting from the field, including 5-of-23 (21.7%) from long range. The Setters have now allowed fewer than 60 points in six games this season.
