Pace Basketball Teams Travel to AIC on Saturday

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – With two games remaining apiece, the Pace University men's and women's basketball teams travel to Springfield, Mass. to face AIC with history on the line in the final weekend of regular-season action. Both Setter squads remain very much in contention for their programs' first-ever respective Northeast-10 Conference regular-season and Southwest Division titles.

Women's Basketball at American International College (Saturday, 1:30 p.m.) Live Video Live Stats

The Pace women's basketball team (13-4 NE10, 19-5 overall) hits the road to take on American International College (6-10 NE10, 9-13 overall) in their second-to-last game of the regular season, and with their destiny firmly in their hands.

In the Setters' most recent action, Pace defeated Saint Anselm on the road on Sunday, 63-56, paced yet again by graduate student Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) who scored 17 points.

The Beacon-native is currently tied for first place in the conference with 20.2 points per game, and also ranks in the top-five with 8.3 rebounds per game.

Should Pace defeat the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, it would set up a Tuesday night (2/22) battle against Le Moyne, with the winner earning this year's regular-season Southwest Division Championship.

The top-seeded team in the upcoming NE10 Tournament will play all of their games at home. The Blue and Gold are currently the lone unbeaten home team in the entire conference this season (12-0).

Men's Basketball at American International College (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) Live Video Live Stats

Pace men's basketball (12-5 NE10, 16-8 overall), sitting in first place in the NE10 Southwest Division and riding a five-game winning streak, visits American International College (3-13 NE10, 6-19 overall), currently last in the division, in the penultimate game of the regular season.

The Setters defeated the Yellow Jackets back on Nov. 20 inside the Goldstein Fitness Center, 78-51, fueled by four double-digit scorers, and piloted by junior Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) who led the team in points (19), assists (6), rebounds (5), and steals (2).

The Blue and Gold completed a season-sweep of division foe, Adelphi, on Wednesday at home by a score of 69-57 for the team's fifth-straight win. Graduate forward Dominick Cristiano (Valhalla, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic/Greens Farm Academy) scored a team-high 23 points to guide the offense.

A win over AIC on Saturday would clinch the top seed in the upcoming NE10 Tournament for the Setters, in addition to at least a share of the Southwest Division regular-season championship. Pace has not lost an intra-divisional game thus far this season.
