PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Sparked by a dominant second quarter, the Pace University women's basketball team posted a 67-54 win over Stonehill College on Thursday afternoon. The win pushes the Setters' record to 18-5 this season, including a mark of 12-4 in the NE10.
Trailing 17-16 after the opening frame, Pace rattled off a 31-8 run that lasted into the third quarter to seize the game's momentum.Â
Back-to-back three-pointers to open the second half provided the Setters with a 47-25 lead at the 8:09 mark. Pace would go on to lead Stonehill by at least 20 points until mid-way through the fourth quarter.
The Blue and Gold are now a perfect 12-0 this season inside the Goldstein Fitness Center. Pace has defeated its 12 foes by an average of 13.9 points per game.
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) once again piloted the home squad. The graduate forward filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals.
Schetter continues to lead the NE10 in scoring this season at 20.4 points per game.
Two more Setters finished the game in double figures with
Jasmine White (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's) putting in 13 points and
Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) tallying 12. Hackett, Schetter and
Kelsey Quain (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) each dished our four assists.Â
Defensively, Pace racked up nine blocks (tied season-high) and eight steals—while limiting Stonehill to 15-of-58 shooting (25.9%) from the field.
