SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Pace University men's basketball team fell to Le Moyne, 63-59 in the season-opener at Le Moyne despite three Setters scoring in the double digits. Pace was led by freshman forward
Chaz Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Bosco Institute) with 13 points.
Junior guard
Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass./Tech Boston / Southern Connecticut State) was just behind with 12 points with senior forward
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) with 10 points.
Bennett was the high rebounder with eight.
Pace led at the half, 28-27.
With 6:34 left in the game, Pace led 47-44. The Dolphins tied it up and pulled ahead with two threes. Two free throws by Harvey brought the Setters back within one, 50-49 at 4:36 left.
The momentum had changed and stayed in Le Moyne's favor the rest of the game as the Setters remained close but could not regain control of the lead.
The loss was the first this season for the No. 23 Pace Setters (3-1, 0-1 NE10). Le Moyne's record advances to 1-3, 1-0 NE10.
Up next, Pace will host Saint Anselm in a Tuesday evening doubleheader at Golstein Fitness Center on Nov. 22. The men's team will be the second game of the doubleheader at approximately 7:30 p.m.
