PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's soccer team fell to Franklin Pierce, 2-1, at home on Saturday night.
Â
The loss drops the Setters to 2-5 in the conference and 4-6-2 overall, while the Ravens improve to 6-2 and 9-2-1 respectively.
Â
In an evenly played first half, Franklin Pierce sophomore Mackenzie Shean scored the only goal after 15 minutes to give her squad the lead.
Â
The Setters came out with aggressiveness in the second half, stunning the Ravens with a high press that resulted in an
Ava Viebrock (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay Senior) goal off an
Allison Carr (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) assist after less than three minutes of action.
Â
The rest of the half was a defensive back-and-forth affair, with neither side securing a tally until 41 seconds remained in the game when Anna Crapanzano launched a shot from deep that got past
Annabella Cole (Selden, N.Y./St. Anthony's), giving the Ravens a dramatic last-second victory.
Â
Pace travels to face Bentley (2-4-1 NE10, 3-5-3) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
