MANCHESTER, N.H. – Pace freshman midfielder
Andrea Flores (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester) scored the first two goals of her career in the first half of a 3-1 Setters women's soccer road victory over Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday. With the win, Pace earned a vital late season win, advancing to 5-7-3 on the season, 3-7-1 in the NE10.
Â
The Setters outshot the Penmen 8:5 in the first half, with a 5:2 advantage in shots-on-goal. Flores scored high to the left in the 13th minute, assisted by junior forward
Jillian Joe (Brookeville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel); then low to left in the 28th unassisted to go up 2-0.
Â
SNHU's Imogen Noon cut the lead in half just 82 seconds into the second period, but Pace sophomore forward
Allison Carr (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) used her patented left foot to extend the Setter lead back to two with her sixth score of the season to go along with her six assists (61st minute).
Â
Carr's 18 points are second most in the NE10.
Â
The Penmen offense was especially thwarted in the attack by sophomore midfielder
Alyssa Cabral (Hollis Hills, N.Y./Francis Lewis) whose staunch defensive effort shone brightly yet again.
Â
The win earned the Setters three points in the NE10 league standings with one regular-season game left on the schedule. Pace will play Le Moyne on Wednesday, Oct. 26 under the lights of Pace Stadium at 7 p.m.
