KINGS PARK, N.Y. – In their final tune-up prior to the 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Championships, the Pace University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday.
Women's Recap (9th Place, 222 Points)
Molly Darfler-Sweeney (Tannersville, N.Y./Hunter-Tannersville) once again steered the ship for Pace. The graduate transfer finished a team-best 26
thwith a time of 23:32.17.
Sophomore
Meryl Mizell (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) followed with a mark of 24:05.43 to finish in 31
st while freshman
Jordan Etheridge (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) placed 56
th in a time of 26:37.04.
Pace's final two finishers were
Samira Bawa (Bronx, N.Y./Metropolitan Lighthouse College Preparatory Academy) and
Emma Voykhanskaya (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow). Bawa put together an 86
th-place finish in 30:03.62 while Voykhanskaya clocked in at 30:22.02 to register 88
th.
Men's Recap (14th Place, 402 Points)
Junior captain
CJ Defeo (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) piloted the men's squad on Saturday with a 63
rd-place finish in a time of 33:05.42.
Freshman
Francesco DiBona (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) and senior
Ceasar Lugo (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) served as Pace's next two scorers with back-to-back finishes of 115
th (38:14.89) and 116th (38:18.12).
Seniors
Ryan Murphy (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) and
Nicholas Becker (Lynbrook, N.Y./East Rockaway) rounded out the Blue and Gold attack with respective efforts of 143
rd (43:20.09) and 160
th (45:46.55).
