PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sparked by three first-quarter touchdowns, the Pace University football team enjoyed a 45-6 win over Post University on Saturday afternoon. The decisive triumph improves the Setters' record to 3-2 at the midway point of their season.
In addition to the lopsided final score, Saturday provided a record-breaking moment for Pace.
Graduate quarterback
Carlton Aiken's (Gibbstown, N.J./Paulsboro) scoring toss to
Franklin Castillo Diaz (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) in the second quarter puts him atop the Setters' all-time passing touchdowns list with 42 and counting.
Aiken breaks a record that was set more than 30 years ago by the legendary Kevin Enterlein ('88).
Aiken, the 2019 NE10 Offensive Player of the Year, has racked up 60 total touchdowns and over 5,500 total yards during his sensational Pace career that spans 24 games played.
The Setters jumped all over Post on Saturday, registering three touchdowns across the first 11:53 of the first quarter.
Pace held a 35-0 lead at halftime and a 42-0 edge after three quarters. The final 39-point margin of victory marks the Setters' highest since 1978.
Freshman
Nasir Robinson (Penns Grove, N.J./Penns Grove) was dominant on the ground for Pace. The New Jersey native piled up 137 rushing yards with three touchdowns on just 10 carries. Robinson's 48-yard scoring scamper in the third quarter lifted the Setters to a 42-0 lead.
Defensively, it was also a sensational display for the Blue and Gold. Pace racked up a season-high 11.0 tackles-for-loss and six pass break-ups.
Graduate students
T'khi Wood-Smith (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) and
Dustin Huseinovic (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) also nabbed interceptions for the Pace defense.

The Setters will travel to the University of New Haven next Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against the Chargers.
