PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Fueled by five players in double figures, the Pace University men's basketball team posted a 95-77 win over Southern Connecticut State on Thursday night. The decisive victory improves the Setters' record to 11-7 overall, including 7-4 inside the Northeast-10 Conference.
Pace's 95 points served as a new season-high, while the Setters also knocked in a season-best 14 three-pointers on just 27 attempts (51.9%).
Up by three at halftime, the Blue and Gold racked up 54 points on 17-of-30 shooting across the final 20 minutes of regulation. It was a 41-19 run that resulted in Pace's biggest lead of the game at 92-68 with 3:42 left.
Graduate guard
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) was sensational for the home squad, nearly recording a triple-double. The Queens, N.Y. native finished the night with 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists—all-team-highs.
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and
Matt Constant (Laconia, N.H./St. Andrew's School (RI)) served as Pace's top shooters against the Owls, combining to go 11-for-15 from three-point range while combining for 49 points. Constant was especially lethal with a 6-of-8 effort from beyond the arc.
Junior
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) and senior
Marc Dadika (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saint Mary's Rutherford) rounded out Pace's double-figure scorers. Powell strung together a stat line of 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Dadika chipped in 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
In addition to the individual numbers, Coach Healing's squad registered season-highs in both total assists (23) and blocks (7) on Thursday night.
