PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing at home for the first time since Nov. 13
th of 2019, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated in five sets (25-13, 17-25, 23-25, 25-19, 12-15) on Saturday by Dominican College.
The Setters opened the match with a dominant first-set victory (25-13) before forcing a fifth game with a triumphant effort in the fourth (25-19). Dominican capped off its win with a 15-12 margin in the final set.
Pace's offense was led by nine kills and a .222 hitting percentage from sophomore
Madisen Lupica (Buchanon, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson). Also on the attack,
Cydney Gardner (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) chipped in eight put-aways while another sophomore,
Jada Screen (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett), tallied six kills of her own.
Sophomore
Stephanie Sicilian (White Plains, N.Y./Valhalla) and senior
Leonarda Uljic (Bronx, N.Y./St. Catharine) served as the main passers for Pace, combining for 29 assists. They also teamed up for 15 total digs, while Uljic added a trio of service aces.
Senior
Emily Cockell (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) matched Sicilian's match-high eight digs, while tying a team-high with four aces. Freshman
Morgan Amos (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) hammered four aces in the match as well.
Freshman
Daniella Abbastante (/Sparta) led the Blue and Gold with seven blocks on the night, including Pace's only solo block of the match. The Setters had six other players finish with at least one block across the five sets of action.

The Setters will travel to New Jersey on Tuesday to take on Felician University at 7 p.m.
