FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Participating in their first official meet in 664 days, the Pace University cross country teams opened 2021 on Friday afternoon at the Adelphi Invitational.
Women's Results (8th Place)
It was a pair of seniors leading the way for the Setters as
Juliet Rich (New York, N.Y./Trevor Day School) and
Heaven Swan (Wingdale, N.Y./Dover) posted nearly identical times on the 5K course. Rich placed 35
th with a mark of 22:15.60, while Swan finished right behind in a time of 22:18.40.
Classmate
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, N.J./Hightstown) served as Pace's third-scorer with a time of 23:20.10—fast enough for a 43
rd-place finish.
Freshman
Meryl Mizell (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) and junior
Marina Lopez (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) founded out the Setters' top-five on Friday. Mizell clocked in at 23:50.40 for 50
th-place, while Lopez tallied a mark of 24:27.20 (58
th-place).
Men's Results (14th place)
Junior
Sean Lowery (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) piloted the Pace harriers on the men's side. The junior recorded an 8K time of 34:09.00 to finish in 71
st-place. Senior
Killian McCole (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) followed Lowery with a mark of 34:43.60 to come in 75th.
The Setters' third finisher was sophomore
CJ Defeo (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue Medford), who earned a time of 35:50.70 to finish in 79
th.
A pair of newcomers for the Blue and Gold rounded out their scoring on Friday. Senior
Joshua Connaught (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) and junior
Ryan Murphy (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) posted respective finishes of 85
th and 89
th overall.
