Pace Women's Soccer Takes Down New Haven, 4-0

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sparked by a goal less than one minute into the contest, the Pace University women's soccer team registered a 4-0 win over New Haven on Wednesday night. The decisive victory moves the Setters' record to 3-2-3 (1-2-3, NE10) this season.

The Blue and Gold set the tone on Wednesday with a goal just 45 seconds into the game. Sophomore Amber Probasco (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) put the finishing touches on a bouncing ball in the box for her third tally of the season.

The Setters continued to put the pressure on throughout the first half. It was a corner-kick connection from senior Isabel Villar (Pomona, N.Y./Paramus Catholic) to sophomore Gabrielle Mpasiakos (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) that lifted Pace to a 2-0 lead in the 19th minute.

The Setters' third goal of the first half came off the foot of sophomore Shannon Selvaggio (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) in the 26th minute. Selvaggio one-timed a shot from about 25 yards out over the New Haven goalkeeper's head.

It was another perfectly placed corner kick that led to the Setters' final tally of the night in the 74th minute. Villar was once again spot on with a service to junior Hannah Sugden (Adams, N.Y./Belleville Henderson Central), who headed the ball into the back of the net.

Freshmen goalkeepers Annabella Cole (Selden, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Perri Anderson (Mountainville, N.Y./Cornwall Central) split the victory in net for Pace—each making three saves in 45 minutes of work.
