Pace Field Hockey Rolls Past Mercy, 4-0

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sparked by seven different point-scorers, the Pace University field hockey team tallied a 4-0 win over Mercy College on Tuesday afternoon. The victory improves the Setters' record to 5-4 this season, including a 3-3 mark inside the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Blue and Gold's third shutout of 2021 was a dominant effort against the Mavericks. Pace put together a 13-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, while also registering a 19-3 edge in penalty corners.

Freshman Krista Dietz (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) put the home squad on the board in the 13th minute of the game. The Mahopac, N.Y. native hammered home a penalty-corner insertion from classmate Noëlle Meij (Huizen, Netherlands / Laar & Berg Secondary School).

It was a senior-to-senior connection that produced Pace's second goal of the contest in the 29th minute. Danielle Merante (Garrison, N.Y./Walter Panas) was able to deflect a shot off the stick of Mia Radici (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) into the back of the net.

Junior Jessica Wolfe (Halfmoon, N.Y./Shenendehowa) lifted the Setters to a 3-0 lead with her second goal of the season in the 39th minute. Classmate Eliza Stevens (Brewster, Mass./Nauset Regional) earned her first career assist on the play.

Freshman Francesca Fava (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) rounded out the Setters' onslaught with a penalty-stroke goal in the 54th minute.

Although not tested too often on Tuesday, senior Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) picked up her 10th career shutout in net. She now ranks fourth in the NE10 in goals-against average (1.10) this season.
