RINDGE, N.H. – Thanks to a late equalizer in the second half, the Pace University women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw at Franklin Pierce on Saturday. The Setters, who also tallied a tie earlier this week at Le Moyne, are now 2-1-2 this season.
Following a Ravens' goal in the 79
th minute of regulation, the Blue and Gold once again showed terrific fight on the road.
Junior
Cecilia Puentes (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L Johnson) evened the score just three minutes later for Pace, putting the finishing touches on a corner-kick delivery from senior
Isabel Villar (Pomona, N.Y./Paramus Catholic). The late goal for the Setters marked the first tally given up by undefeated Franklin Pierce (4-0-1) this season.
The Blue and Gold were lifted by another great defensive effort on Saturday—which was highlighted by a 10-save performance from freshman
Annabella Cole (Selden, N.Y./St. Anthony's). Cole's double-digit stops are the most by a Pace goalkeeper in a game since 2017.
Cole put together a terrific week for the Setters in net, allowing just a single goal in 175 minutes of action. She finished with three saves during Pace's 1-1 tie at Le Moyne on Wednesday night.
Up Next
The Setters will return home to host third-ranked Saint Rose on Tuesday night (7 p.m.).
