Pace Football Drops NE10 Opener at Assumption, 32-21

WORCESTER, Mass. – Beginning their 2021 NE10 schedule on the road, the Pace University football team was defeated at Assumption College on Saturday by a score of 32-21.

The Setters, who led 21-19 at halftime, tallied all three of their touchdowns in the second quarter. Graduate quarterback Carlton Aiken (Gibbstown, N.J./Paulsboro) accounted for two of those scores, while senior running back Kashmier Jackson (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) recorded a 13-yard touchdown run.

Aiken rushed for a score and tossed for six during the second quarter, while finishing the game with 217 total yards—129 of which came on the ground. Jackson served as Pace's second-best runner in the game, totaling 61 yards on 12 carries.

Junior Lamar Moore (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) was on the receiving end of Aiken's touchdown toss while freshman Dominic Nicolo (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) served as the Setters' top wideout on two catches for 53 yards.

The Greyhounds' defense didn't allow any points after halftime, while their offense registered touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters.

The Blue and Gold's defensive efforts were once led by senior Dustin Huseinovic (Harrison, N.J./Harrison), who led Pace in tackles (12) for a third straight game. He also came up with a forced fumble that Assumption recovered in the first half.

Senior Nasier Givens (Newark, N.J./Orange) and junior Jack Romer (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) each came up with sacks for Pace, while junior Brandon Holt (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) registered a game-high three pass break-ups.
