PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Coming off their lone bye week of the regular season, the Pace University football team dropped a 28-14 contest to New Haven on Saturday afternoon.
Tied 14-14 at halftime, it was a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns from the Chargers that proved to be the difference in the contest.
Sophomore quarterback
Sean Kehley (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) supplied both touchdowns—both on the ground—in his first career start for Pace. He rushed into the end zone from four yards out in the first quarter before scampering in from the five-yard line in the second quarter.
Kehley finished the afternoon with 43 total rushing yards, in addition to completing 17-of-20 passes for 178 yards. Freshman
Dominic Nicolo (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) was Kehley's favorite target with five catches and 56 yards.
Senior
Kashmier Jackson (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) served as Pace's top rusher with 98 yards on the ground. He racked up most of his stat line on a 53-yard run in the first quarter.
On the defensive side of the ball, senior
Dustin Huseinovic (Harrison, N.J./Harrison) was the Setters' top tackler (10) for a fourth straight game. Classmate
Nasier Givens (Newark, N.J./Orange) chipped in six tackles, including a team-best two tackles-for-loss.
Junior defensive back
Neimar Santouse (Clifton, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute) caused Pace's lone turnover of the game with his first career interception in the first quarter.
