Pace Field Hockey Defeats SNHU, 6-3

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sparked by four different goal-scorers, the Pace University field hockey team earned a 6-3 win over Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday afternoon. The home victory evens the Setters' record to 3-3 this season (1-2, NE10).

The Blue and Gold's offensive eruption featured at least one goal in every quarter. Pace earned a 3-0 lead in the first half, and after SNHU cut it to 3-2 in the third quarter, the Setters tacked on another 3-0 spurt to move past the Penmen.

Freshman Krista Dietz (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) notched the game's first two goals—both of which were started by penalty corners and a pair of assists by junior Hannah Wyllie (Guildford, England/George Abbot School).

Senior Mia Radici (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) put Pace ahead 3-0 later in the second quarter—her first of two goals on Saturday. Classmate Danielle Merante (Garrison, N.Y./Walter Panas) provided the assist on the play.

Merante also assisted on Pace's fourth goal in the third quarter, which was a tally by sophomore Francesca Fava (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland).

Another sophomore, Julia Eshleman (Lititz, Pa./Warwick), struck for Pace at the very beginning of the fourth quarter. Her tally, which was assisted by Radici, lifted the Setters to a 5-2 edge.

Speaking of Radici, she rounded out the Blue and Gold's scoring with her second goal of the game in 51st minute.

Senior Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) earned the win in net for Pace. Saturday marked the first time this season that she has yielded multiple goals in a game as she currently sits third in the NE10 in goals-against average (0.98).
