MILTON, N.Y. – Following their lone bye weekend of the regular season, the Pace University men's and women's cross country teams returned to action on Friday at the New Paltz Invitational.
Men's Results (4th Place)
It was a crowded group at the top for Pace, as the Setters' first four runners all finished consecutively and within 57 seconds of each other. Junior
Sean Lowery (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) led the way for a second straight meet, posting an 8K time of 34:50.5 (27
th-place).
Freshman
Daniel Pacheco (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) followed Lowery closely in his first collegiate race. The Westchester native registered a mark of 34:57.5 to place 28
th overall.
Senior
Killian McCole (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) and sophomore
CJ Defeo (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) rounded out Pace's first four harriers, tallying respective times of 35:31.6 and 35:47.0.
The Blue and Gold's final scorer came in the form of junior
Nicholas Becker (Lynbrook, N.Y./East Rockaway), who posted a mark of 46:59.0.
Women's Results (2nd-Place)
A pair of top-10 finishers piloted the Blue and Gold's attack on Friday. Junior
Marina Lopez (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) crossed the finish line in fifth-place courtesy of a 6K mark of 30:06.2. Freshman
Meryl Mizell (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) came in right behind with a time of 30:08.8 to place seventh overall.
Senior
Lisa Clarke (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) finished just outside the top-10 for Pace with a time of 31:11.9 (11th-place), while classmate
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, N.J./Hightstown) and sophomore
Danielle Ashley Cornetta (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) rounded out the Setters' top-five.
Raines put together a mark of 33:43.4 to place 14
th, while Cornetta finished 16
th with a time of 34:26.9.
