SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Wrapping up their four-game series at Le Moyne, the Pace University softball team went 1-1 against the Dolphins on Saturday afternoon.
Game One – Pace 10, Le Moyne 6
The Setters put together one of their best offensive performances of the season in a Game One win.
A three-run home run off the bat of
Brittany Walkingstick (Peculiar, Mo. /Desert Ridge / Mesa Community College) put Pace up 7-2 in the fourth, while a two-run double from
Carolina Iturriaga (North Hills, Calif./Grover Cleveland) provided a 10-3 edge in the sixth.
Walkingstick finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Isabelle Boudreau (Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada/Mathieu-Martin),
Briana Ryan (Wilmington, Calif./Carson) and
Savannah Godfrey (Phelan, Calif./Oak Hills) also put together multiple hits in the opener.
For Godfrey, it was her first two career hits at Pace while also chipping in her first three RBIs.
Junior
Arielle Acosta (Union City, Calif./Moreau Catholic High School) also added an RBI hit as her single up the middle in the fifth put Pace up 8-3.
Senior
Mackenzie Garrick (South River, N.J./South River) earned her fourth win of the season in the circle, while
Emma Bernet (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W Baker) didn't allow a run in 1.2 innings of relief.
Game Two – Le Moyne 3, Pace 0
After the 10-run effort in the opener, Pace was held scoreless in the final game of the weekend. The Setters did register 10 hits in the game, which ultimately led to 13 runners left on base.
Six different Pace players registered a hit in the contest, led by a 4-for-4 performance by graduate student
Emma Carruth (Torrance, Calif./Beverly Hills).
Ryan also recorded multiple knocks as she finished the weekend series at Le Moyne, 7-for-10, with three home runs, five RBIs and six runs scored.
Bernet went the distance in Game Two, allowing just three runs across six frames.
