Pace Baseball Splits Saturday Doubleheader Against Le Moyne

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In the first of back-to-back home doubleheaders against Le Moyne, the Pace University baseball team split a pair of contests against the Dolphins on Saturday.

Game One – Pace 13, Le Moyne 2
The Setters enjoyed their best offensive output of the year during a Game One victory. The Blue and Gold's 13 runs matched a season best, while their 17 hits marked their highest total of the spring so far.

Pace's onslaught featured the scoring of runs in all but one inning of the game. Senior Harrison Treble (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) led the way offensively with a 3-for-5, four-RBI performance. He launched a three-run home run in the sixth, while also tallying a pair of doubles.

Andrew Primm (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) and Matt Almonte (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) also impressed at the dish, notching identical 3-for-4, two-RBI stat lines. Almonte hammered his team-best third home run of the season in the seventh inning.

Miles Kelly (Mattituck, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) and Johnny Guarantano (Nottingham, Md./RJ Reynolds High School) each chipped in multiple hits of their own, combining to go 4-for-7 with three runs scored.

On the mound, sophomore Christian Aich (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) improved to 4-0 this season with another strong six-inning outing. The right-hander allowed just one earned run on three hits, while striking out seven.

Aich, the reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week, now owns a team-best 1.72 ERA this season with 35 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work.

Game Two – Le Moyne 7, Pace 2 (Seven-Inning Game)
After the explosion of offense in the opener, Pace was only able to muster four hits in Game Two.

Both of Pace's runs came courtesy of Almonte's second home run of the afternoon in the sixth inning. Almonte, who also had another hit in Game Two, finished the doubleheader at 5-for-7 with four RBIs, three runs scored and a walk.

Matt Bass (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) and Nate Carminucci (Somers, N.Y./North Salem High School) had the other hits for Pace in Game Two, while Guarantano scored on Almonte's home run.

Senior pitcher Thomas Ippolito (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) was dealt the loss after allowing four earned runs scored six innings of action.
