PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Wrapping up their four-game conference series against AIC, the Pace University baseball team split a home doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday.
Game Two – Pace 8, AIC 4
The Setters' afternoon split was sparked by a four-run second inning in Game Two. Pace would then tack on two more in both the third and seventh frames.
An
Andrew Primm (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) RBI single tied that game up at 1-1 in the second, before a bases-loaded triple off the bat of
Harrison Treble (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) provided Pace with a 4-1 edge.
The Setters padded their lead the following inning courtesy of RBI doubles by
Nate Carminucci (Somers, N.Y./North Salem High School) and
Andrew Oakland (Holbrook, NY/Sachem HS East).
Greg Tsouprakos (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and
Matt Bass (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) scored the runs after recording hits of their own in the inning.
Bass chipped in a sac fly in the seventh while Primm registered another RBI base hit to put Pace up 8-2.
Carminucci and
Matt Almonte (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) each posted three hits in the second game of the day as Pace totaled 14 knocks as a team.
Junior

Graduate student
Frankie Giuliano (Bronx, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) earned the save following three innings of solid action in relief. The lefty struck out the side in the eighth.
Game One – AIC 10, Pace 2 (Seven-Inning Game)
The Yellow Jackets hopped out to an early 4-0 lead after just two innings in the first contest, before opening the game up with three more runs in the fifth.
Almonte,
Greg Tsouprakos (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and
Johnny Guarantano (Nottingham, Md./RJ Reynolds High School) each put forth multiple hits for Pace in the opener.
The trio accounted for six of the Setters' eight total knocks, while RBI doubles from Almonte and Tsouprakos supplied their two runs.
On the mound,
