No. 19 Women's Lacrosse Earns 18-4 Win Against Saint Rose

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Securing their third-straight double-digit win, the 19th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team posted an 18-4 triumph over Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon. The victory improves the Setters to 7-1 this season, including a 6-1 mark inside the NE10.

Pace continued its current stretch of dominance on Saturday, which now features three consecutive wins by an average of 13 goals. The Setters jumped out to a 12-1 lead versus the Golden Knights before going up by as many as 15 goals in the second half.

Senior Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) and freshman Angelina Porcello (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester) led Pace in the goals column—each finding the back of the net on four occasions. Mucci currently leads the entire NE10 in scoring this season with 36 goals and 38 total points.

Speaking of points, junior Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) piled up a team-high five of them off three goals and two assists. She currently ranks second behind Mucci in the NE10 in terms of points this season with 34.

Katie Smaldone (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Township), Sydney Juvelier (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) and Jolie Urraro (Sayville, N.Y./Connetquot) also chipped in multiple points in the contest, while a total of 12 Setters finished the game with either a goal or an assist.

A catalyst for Pace's offense was certainly an 18-6 edge in draw controls. Sophomore Jennifer Sommer (Lake Grove, N.Y./Centereach) and senior Emma Rafferty (Bay Shore, N.Y./Islip) supplied most of those as they each finished the game with eight.

Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Belfiore (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) picked up her first career win in net, allowing just the four goals in a complete-game effort.

Also on the defensive side of the ball, junior Allison Brady (East Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) put together a game-high and career-high five caused turnovers.

The Setters wrapped up the game with a 32-5 advantage in shots-on-goal as they forced the Saint Rose goalkeepers to make 14 saves.
