ALBANY, N.Y. – Following a two-week break since their season-opening win at Molloy, the 24
th-ranked Pace University women's lacrosse team registered a 23-7 triumph over Saint Rose to begin NE10 action on Saturday.
The Setters' decisive victory was highlighted by a dominant second half. Pace outscored Saint Rose by a 13-1 margin in the final 30 minutes of the game.
For the third straight game (dating back to last season), senior
Carlyn Mucci (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) tallied seven goals to lead the Pace attack. Remarkably, Mucci has now recorded three of only six seven-goal games (single-game record) in program history.
Aleya Corretjer (Thiells, N.Y./North Rockland) served as the Setters' second-leading scorer with three tallies and a pair of assists, while
Kayla Conway (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh),
Sarah Witherbee (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) and
Jaimie Bell (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) each found the back of the net twice. Witherbee also nabbed a team-high six draw controls.
In addition to the final goal margin, Pace was victorious in almost every other statistical category. Most notably, the Setters put together a 36-13 edge in shots-on-goal and a 17-7 advantage on turnovers.
Goalkeepers,
Sienna Masullo (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai School District) and
Ashley Belfiore (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor), each played a half for Pace in the victory.
