ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Taking the diamond for the first time in over a calendar year, the Pace University softball team was defeated twice at Molloy College on Wednesday afternoon.
Game One – Molloy 3, Pace 2
The Setters' offense was only able to muster four hits in the first contest of the day. After going down 3-0 in the second inning, Pace put its two runs across in the fourth.
Junior
Zoie Iverson (Oregon City, Ore./Alliance Charter Academy/ Oregon City High School) tallied both RBIs on a one-out single up the middle.
Brittany Walkingstick (Peculiar, Mo. /Desert Ridge / Mesa Community College) and
Isabelle Boudreau (Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada/Mathieu-Martin) each scored on the play. Walkingstick reached base on a walk, while Boudreau led off the inning with a base hit to left.
The Setters' other two hits in the contest were both singles off the bats of
Arielle Acosta (Union City, Calif./Moreau Catholic High School) and
Briana Ryan (Wilmington, Calif./Carson).
Game Two – Molloy 5, Pace 4
The Lions walked off for their second victory of the day. Trailing 4-2 after six-and-a-half, Molloy put three across in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Setters led for most of the nightcap, scoring the first two runs of the game in the second prior to extending their edge to 4-1 in the fifth.
Sophomore
Arianna Guarracino (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) knocked in Pace's second run with an RBI double in the second frame while Walkingstick brought home a pair with a single in the fifth.
Graduate student
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) went 2-for-3 at the dish with a run scored in the second game of the afternoon.

The Setters will make their home and NE10 debuts this weekend when they host a four-game series against Adelphi.
