PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Fueled by five players in double figures, the Pace University women's basketball team posted an 87-66 win over Felician University on Saturday. The non-conference triumph improves the Setters' record to 9-1 this season.
Pace's season-high 87 points was propelled by a big first half. The Setters shot 54% from the field across the first 20 minutes en route to building a 52-31 lead at the break.
The Blue and Gold never trailed in the game, and led by as many 25 points in the second quarter.
The Setters' balanced attack featured five players scoring at least 10 points. Graduate forward
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) once again led the way with 17 points. She also excelled on the defensive end with a season-high four blocks, in addition to a pair of steals.
After Schetter, it was a combined 46 points from
Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's),
Naya Rivera (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland),
Arianna Stockinger (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. /Putnam Valley), and
Shanice Sinclair (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman).
Sinclair also led the Setters in rebounding as she nearly recorded her first-career double-double with nine boards.
Hackett was once again Pace's main orchestrator, finishing the game with a team-high six assists. The Long Island native is currently ranked fourth in the NE10 in helpers per contest (4.9).
