PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Seeing their final action of the fall semester, the Pace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams each posted wins over the College of Staten Island on Saturday.
Women's Recap (Pace 130, CSI 68)
It was a decisive triumph for the Setters, highlighted by a trio of top swims from
Annabel Keppel-Palmer (Kent, England/Maidstone Grammar School) and
Katherine Kline (Salisbury Mills, N.Y./Washingtonville).
The duo began the day by teaming up with
Rose Clark (Acworth, Ga./Harrison)e and
Daniela Lusuriello (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) to earn a victory in the 200-medley relay (1:58.18).
Keppel-Palmer then went on to register low marks in both the 100-back (1:04.92) and 200-IM (2:23.23), while Kline tallied first-place efforts in the 200- (2:03.02), and 100-free (57.40).
The Setters also earned a diving sweep as
Amy Calandro (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) earned high marks in both the three-meter (220.43) and one-meter (191.10) events.
Pace's other two wins on the day came from Lusuriello in the 100-fly (1:04.90) and
Caelyn Smith (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) in the 1,000-free (12:02.58).
Men's Recap (Pace 116, CSI 115)
A sensational diving performance highlighted an extremely tight win on the men's side. Senior
Patrick Dwyer (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) broke his own school record in the one-meter (280.65), while also recording top marks in the three-meter (279.90).
Freshman
Robert Gehman (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico Senior) joined in with a pair of first-place finishes of his own. The Pennsylvania native raced to low times in the 200-free (1:54.62) and the 100-breast (1:02.39).
Senior
Samuel Gibson (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrew's) also touched the wall first against the Dolphins. The Bahamas native sprinted to a winning mark of 56.04 in the 100-fly.
The Blue and Gold clinched their team win in the final event of the day. Pace's team of Gehman, Gibson,
Brandon Ciralli () and
Tyler Besnoff (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) clocked the fastest time in the 200-free relay (1:33.94).
