PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In the first of two home meets within the next 24 hours, the Pace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were each defeated by Southern Connecticut State on Friday afternoon.
Men's Recap (SCSU 158, Pace 121)
It was a diving sweep that led the way for the Blue and Gold against the Owls. Senior
Patrick Dwyer (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) earned wins in both the one-meter and three-meter, posting top scores of 245.55 and 267.30.
Sophomore
Tyler Besnoff (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) also registered a pair of victories. The Pennsylvania native tallied low marks in both the 200-free (1:51.99) and the 400-IM (4:27.03).
The Setters' final triumph came in relay action. Pace's squad of
Samuel Gibson (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrew's),
Michael Ferstler (Canton, Mass./Canton),
Xander Hughes (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), and
Tyler Besnoff (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) won the 200-free relay in a time of 1:35.03.
Women's Recap (SCSU 177, Pace 108)
The Setters' main points against the Owls came in three victories—two of which were solo wins.
Graduate student
Annabel Keppel-Palmer (Kent, England/Maidstone Grammar School) raced to first place in the 100-back (1:02.50), while senior
Amy Calandro (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester) picked up the highest score in the one-meter dive (198.08).
The Blue and Gold's third victory of the night was a team effort. The Setters' 200-free relay of Keppel-Palmer,
Katherine Kline (Salisbury Mills, N.Y./Washingtonville),
Daniela Lusuriello (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central), and
Katherine Devaney (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Eastchester) registered a low time of 1:44.93
