ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Taking the course one final time in 2021, the Pace University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA East Regionals on Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.
Women's Results (6K, 17th Place)
It was a tight race for the Setters' scorers as Pace's top-five finishers all crossed the finish line within 47 seconds of each other.
Senior
Heaven Swan (Wingdale, N.Y./Dover) led the way for the Blue and Gold with a mark of 26:17.9 to finish in 107
th place. Junior
Marina Lopez (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) followed just two places later with a time of 26:32.4.
Senior
Lisa Clarke (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) served as Pace's third scorer as she clocked in at 26:39.6 (113
th place), while senior
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, N.J./Hightstown) posted a time of 26:59.2 (121
st place).
Freshman
Meryl Mizell (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) capped off the Blue and Gold's top-five in her NCAA debut. The Texas native recorded a 6K mark of 27:04.9 to finish in 123
rd.
Men's Results (10K, 21st Place)
It was back-to-back finishes from sophomore
CJ Defeo (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) and junior
Sean Lowery (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) that led the way on the men's side.
Defeo made his NCAA debut with a time of 40:38.0 (137
th place), while Lowery came in right behind in a mark of 40:54.6 (138
th).
Senior
Killian McCole (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) placed third for the Pace harriers in a time of 45:12.9 to finish in 140
th place.
A pair of Setter juniors rounded out the team's scoring on Saturday.
Ceasar Lugo (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) clocked a 10K time of 53:20.8 to come in 142
nd place, while
Nicholas Becker (Lynbrook, N.Y./East Rockaway) registered a near-identical mark of 53:21.1 (143
rd place).
