WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Fueled by four players in double figures, the Pace University men's basketball team earned a 69-45 victory at New Haven on Tuesday night. The lopsided win improves the Setters' record to 5-0 this season.
Up by eight at halftime, the Blue and Gold put together a dominant performance in the second half. The Setters limited New Haven to just six made field goals across the final 20 minutes of regulation.
Pace was especially impressive in the paint on Tuesday night. The Setters outrebounded New Haven by a 43-29 margin, while outscoring them, 48-16, in the paint.
Individually, it was junior
Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) piloting the road squad. The Orange County native finished with 22 points on an efficient 9-for-12 shooting. He also added five rebounds and two blocks.
Marc Dadika (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saint Mary's Rutherford),
Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and
Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) joined Powell in double figures, combining to put in 35 points. Powell neared a double-double with nine rebounds as well, while Jacobs dished out a team-high five assists.
Pace's bench outscored New Haven, 35-12, in the contest. The Setters also racked up a 20-0 margin in points off turnovers.
