WORCESTER, Mass. – Seeing their first official action of 2021-22, the Pace University women's basketball team earned a 45-36 victory at Assumption University on Saturday.
It was a standout defensive effort for the Setters as they allowed the fewest points in a game since 2012. Pace limited the Greyhounds to 13-of-52 shooting from the field (25%), including 2-of-18 from three-point range (11.1%).
The Blue and Gold allowed just six points in the first quarter and five total points in the third quarter. The Setters led Assumption across the final 24:23 of regulation.
Individually, it was graduate student
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) guiding the way. The Beacon, N.Y. native nearly recorded a double-double with a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds.
Another graduate student,
Naya Rivera (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland), piled up a career-high 13 rebounds. She joined senior
Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) in chipping in eight points as well.
Collectively, the Blue and Gold outrebounded Assumption by a 46-34 margin.
