MILTON, N.Y. – In their final regular-season race of the 2021 season, the Pace University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invite on Saturday in Milton, N.Y.
Women's Results (3rd Place, 6K)
The Setters' third-place team finish was tops amongst all Division II programs that raced on Saturday. In total, seven Pace runners crossed the finish line, led by senior
Heaven Swan (Wingdale, N.Y./Dover) who registered a 6K time of 28:43.9 to finish in 12th place.
Seniors
Lisa Clarke (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) and
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, N.J./Hightstown), and freshman
Meryl Mizell (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) finished consecutively with respective marks of 29:37.9, 29:37.7, and 30:07.3 to give the Setters four finishers in the top-25.
The Blue and Gold's final scorer on Saturday was
Ashley De La Cruz (Yonkers, N.Y./Maria Regina), who placed 42
nd overall with a time of 34:02.5.
Men's Results (8th Place, 8K)
Sophomore
CJ Defeo (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue Medford) concluded his stellar regular season as Pace's first finisher for a third straight meet. The Long Island native tallied an 8K time of 33:45.2 to finish in 38th place.
41st place went to junior
Sean Lowery (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) who was Pace's second finisher with a mark of 34:24.7, while senior
Killian McCole (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) was not far behind with a time of 34:49.4 to finish in 43rd place.
Juniors
Nicholas Becker (Lynbrook, N.Y./East Rockaway) and
Ceasar Lugo (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) rounded out the Blue and Gold's top five. Becker put together a time of 42:56.0 while Lugo crossed the finish line in 44:50.2.
