WALTHAM, Mass. – Heading into the weekend on a three-game winning streak, the Pace University field hockey team was defeated in overtime at Bentley on Friday afternoon by a score of 3-2. The loss shifts the Setters' record to 7-5 this season, including a 5-4 mark inside the Northeast-10 Conference.
After 60 minutes of regulation couldn't produce a result on Friday, Bentley's Kate Slowe provided the game-winner in the fifth minute of overtime.
Pace owned a pair of leads in regulation but were unable to close the door on the Falcons. Junior
Cienna Bosher (Blackwood, N.J./Highland) scored the game's first goal off a penalty stroke in the seventh minute. Bosher now ranks second on the team this season with five tallies.
The Setters would go on to take another lead in the 55
th minute of the contest. Freshman
Krista Dietz (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) notched her team-leading ninth goal of the season to give Pace a 2-1 edge. Bentley was able to tie the game up less than two minutes later.
Senior goalkeeper
Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) posted seven saves in a complete game in net. The Australia native currently ranks fifth in the NE10 in both goals-against average and save percentage this season.
