PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Beginning a busy two-match weekend, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated by Stonehill College in four sets (20-25, 15-25, 31-29, 23-25) on Friday night.
The Setters were led by 17 kills off the right hand of junior
Brielle Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens). Jones finished the match with a .262 hitting percentage, while chipping in four digs.
Following Jones was a balanced Pace attack with six different players registering multiple putaways. Sophomore
Cydney Gardner (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) finished second on the team with nine kills, in addition to tallying three digs and three block assists.
Sophomore
Jada Screen (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) and freshman
Abby Robertson (Solana Beach, Calif. /Westview) also put together strong offensive performances. Screen recorded six kills while Robertson hammered a season-high six service aces.
It was a senior duo who piloted the Blue and Gold's defensive efforts.
Emily Cockell (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) and
Leonarda Uljic (Bronx, N.Y./St. Catharine) each picked up 10 digs. Uljic also dished out 15 assists to finish with her first career double-double.
