PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In one of the wilder games ever played at Peter X. Finnerty Field, the Pace University baseball team picked up a 25-9 win over Queens College on Wednesday afternoon. The victory improves the Setters' record to 5-4 during the early season.
Pace's 25 runs against the Knights is the most in a game for the program since 1988 when the Setters put 29 across versus Long Island University (then-C.W. Post).
The onslaught featured 19 runs in the first four innings alone, while Pace finished the game with 18 hits. Seven different Setters scored multiple runs in the contest.
Miles Kelly (Center Moriches, N.Y./Rockland CC) served as one of many top performers for the Blue and Gold, putting together a 3-for-4 afternoon with three RBIs and four runs scored.
Senior
Noah Clement (Voorhees, N.J./Roman Catholic High School) also recorded three hits, while tying a team-high with five runs scored. Classmate
Joseph Curcio (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills High School) joined in with five runs scored of his own, to go along with two hits and three walks.
Curcio also hammered his first home run of the season, launching a two-run blast in the second inning.
Five other Pace players contributed RBIs in the victory, while a total of 10 Setters mustered at least one hit. The Blue and Gold also initiated 13 walks, which is the most in a game since 2017.
Junior
Greg Najar (Howell, N.J./Freehold Township) earned the win on the mound for Pace, allowing one earned run across three innings of work with five strikeouts.
Up Next
The Setters, who have now won five of their last six games, will host New York Tech on Sunday for a doubleheader at noon.
