PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Following one of the best seasons in program history,
Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, N.J./Southern Regional) of the Pace University men's basketball team has been named the CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year.
Wejnert, who led the Setters on a nine-game winning streak to open the season and into the quarterfinals of the NE10 Tournament, averaged a conference-best 23.5 points per game in 2019-20. The senior forward also ranked third in the NE10 in rebounding, grabbing 9.2 boards per contest.
The NE10 first teamer also scored 30 or more points in seven games, including a career-best 40-point performance. Through 28 starts, he recorded 13 double-doubles and shot 52.6 percent from the field, while posting eight games in which he shot 60 percent or better.
Wejnert finished his historic career at No. 6 in the program record book for both points (1,722) and rebounds (764). He is also one of just two players in Pace history to record more than 1,720 points and 700 rebounds.
Academically, Wejnert holds a 3.89 GPA as a finance major and has earned recognition on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll following all seven of his semesters at Pace.
This honor marks his second appearance on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Men's Basketball team after earning a second-team selection in 2018-19. He is a two-time Northeast-10 All-Conference selection and was named to the first team during his final season with the Setters.
