PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing at Finnerty Field for the first time in 2020, the Pace University baseball team put together a doubleheader sweep of Bloomfield College on Sunday afternoon. The wins move the Setters' record to 3-3 in the early season.
Game One – Pace 13, Bloomfield 5
The Setters' offensive onslaught during the first contest featured six different scoring innings. Senior
Brian Bohlander (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) led the way at the plate, going 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Classmate
Joseph Curcio (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills High School) also put forth a stellar Game One. The New Jersey native reached base five times, going 3-for-3 with five runs scored. He also recorded three RBIs.
Harrison Treble (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay/St. Bonaventure) and
Andrew Primm (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) joined in with multiple hits of their own, combining to go 4-for-10 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Junior
Thomas Ippolito (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) earned the win on the mound, allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work.
Game Two – Pace 1, Bloomfield 0
Following a combined 18 runs in the opener, Pace and Bloomfield enjoyed a pitcher's duel in Game Two.
Senior
Lorenzo Russo (East Northport, N.Y./Commack) tossed a gem for the Setters, finishing with seven strikeouts across seven shutout innings. He yielded just two singles to the Bears, while moving his record to 1-1 this season.
Pace's lone run came in the fourth inning when
Greg Tsouprakos (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) hammered an RBI single to left field.
Dean DePreta (Stamford, Conn./Westhill High School) scored on the play after registering a two-out double.
