Jacobs Breaks a Pair of School Records in Men's Basketball's Win over Saint Rose

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Led by the unselfish hand of Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran), the Pace University men's basketball team defeated The College of Saint Rose Saturday afternoon with a final score of 82-71. The home triumph moves the Setters' record to 16-8 overall, including a mark of 8-7 in the NE10.

Jacobs dished out a Pace single-game record 19 assists in the win, while also eclipsing his single-season record of 185 assists from a season ago. The previous single-game assists record was held by Steve Fagan, who posted 14 in December of 1990. Jacobs now has 192 helpers on the season.

Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, N.J./Southern Regional) posted his sixth game in which he's scored 30 or more points this season. The senior forward chalked up 32 points, while bringing down seven rebounds and adding one block and one steal.

He also went to the line six times and capitalized on all 12 opportunities. Wejnert upped his NE10-leading points per game this season to 23.0.

Jacobs wasn't the only Setter to have a career day, however. Sophomore Jordan Fox (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) posted a career-high 15 points while serving as the second leading scorer for the Blue and Gold. Fox scored all 15 of his points from beyond the arc, shooting five-of-seven from downtown.

Bryan Powell (Middletown, N.Y./Canterbury School) and Christian Adams (New Haven, Conn./Hamden Hall) each reached double-digits in scoring as well. Powell's 12 points and Adams' 11 rounded out the list of four Setters to hit double numbers on the day.

Saturday's victory marks the seventh time this season that Pace has put four or more players in double-digits. It is also the sixth win in which the Setters have scored 80 or more points and the 10th game that they have won by a 10 or greater point-margin.
