Women's Basketball Defeats AIC on Senior Day, 69-45

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - In their final home game of the regular season and Senior Day in the Goldstein Fitness Center, the Pace University women's basketball team defeated American International College, 69-45. The victory pushes the Setters' overall record to 19-8 this season, with a mark of 12-6 in the NE10.

The Setters surged out of the gates on a 14-0 run in the first quarter and didn't concede the lead for the entire 40 minutes of play.

Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) led Pace in scoring with 17 points and added 12 rebounds for her 12th double-double performance of the season. She also finished the day six-of-10 from the field which marks the eighth time this season that she's shot 60 percent or better.

Classmate Italee Brown-Smikle (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) registered herself a season-high eight points in the win and drained a pair of three-balls. She served as the team's second-leading scorer on the afternoon alongside teammates Iliana Krasniqi (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) and Kelsey Quain (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) who each tallied eight points apiece.

A total of nine Setters contributed to the 69-point scoring parade. In addition to DelliSanti, Brown-Smikle, Krasniqi and Quain, Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) (6), Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) (6), Fiona Mullen (Orangeburg, N.Y./Tappan Zee) (6), Naya Rivera (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland) (5) and Kendra Cooper-Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./The Masters School) (5) were all factors offensively.

In addition to allowing just 45 points, the Setters' defense limited AIC to 24.2% shooting from the field. The Yellow Jackets' efforts from the floor included a 1-for-23 stretch (4.3%) from beyond the arc.

Up Next
With just one game remaining on the regular season schedule, the Setters are beginning to eye a postseason run in the NE10 Conference Tournament. Currently sitting at 12-6 in conference play, a win on Tuesday at Le Moyne would secure Pace as the three seed in the Southwest Division.
