Women's Basketball Falls in OT at No. 10 Adelphi, 63-59

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Seeing overtime action for a second-straight contest, the Pace University women's basketball team was defeated at 10th-ranked Adelphi on Wednesday night by a score of 63-59. The loss puts the Setters at 18-8 overall this season (11-6, NE10), while the Panthers move to 24-2.

Inside the Numbers
Pace was led by 19 points off the bench from Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School). The junior forward put together an efficient 8-for-11 night, while also tallying a team-high eight rebounds.

Senior Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) also grabbed eight boards, to go along with 14 points and a team-high three steals. DelliSanti continues to lead the Setters in scoring this season, while ranking fourth in the NE10 in points per game (17.4).

Sophomore Kelsey Quain (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) knocked in a trio of three-pointers to finish as Pace's third-leading scorer. She also registered five rebounds and a team-best four assists.

Junior Naya Rivera (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland) rounded out the Pace attack with eight points, in addition to nabbing six boards.

Pace's defense compiled another strong performance, limiting Adelphi to its lowest point total (54) in regulation this season. The Panthers finished with a 35.7 percent shooting mark from the floor, including a 2-for-14 clip from long range (14.3%).

The Setters also racked up nine steals in the contest with six different players recording at least one.

How it Happened
Adelphi scored the final five points of regulation to force overtime, which included a three-pointer off the hands of Fallyn Stephens with 36 seconds left. The Setters had led for the entirety of the fourth quarter prior to that point.

The Panthers opened the scoring in the extra period with a pair of free throws before Schetter answered with a bucket on the other end.

After Adelphi went back up four, an old-fashioned three-point play from DelliSanti cut the edge to just one point with 15 seconds on the clock.

Following two more free throws for the home team, Pace's three-point attempt to tie the game with about 10 seconds left fell off the mark.

Up Next
The Setters will celebrate Senior Day prior to their final home game of the regular season on Saturday. Pace hosts AIC inside the Goldstein Fitness Center at 1:30 p.m.
