MANCHESTER, N.H. – Led by another stellar defensive performance, the Pace University women's basketball team picked up a 64-53 win at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. The victory improves the Setters' road record to 10-1 this season, while also putting them at 16-6 overall (9-4, NE10).
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) sparked the Setters on Saturday with a game-high 22 points. She was especially impressive early on when she scored the Setters' first nine points of the contest. DelliSanti also chipped in a team-high eight rebounds.
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) joined DelliSanti in double figures, eclipsing a career milestone in the process. The Beacon, N.Y. native finished with 13 points in the contest, while becoming the 29
th member of Pace's "1,000-Point Club."
Kendra Cooper-Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./The Masters School) served a big role of her own in the win, notching season-bests for both points (10) and rebounds (8).
Naya Rivera (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland) and
Kelsey Quain (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) rounded out the Pace attack, each putting in eight points. Rivera also added a career-high three blocks, in addition to nabbing seven rebounds.
Pace's defense once again played a key role in the road victory. The Setters limited SNHU to 22-of-60 shooting (36.7%) from the field, while also forcing 16 Penmen turnovers.
The Setters gained momentum in the game thanks to a big second quarter. Pace put together an 18-7 edge in the second frame, while holding a double-digit lead for almost the entirety of the second half.
