Women's Basketball Surges Past SCSU on the Road, 72-51

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Catapulted by a huge third quarter, the Pace University women's basketball team picked up a 72-51 win at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon. The win pushes the Setters' record to 11-3 this season, while also putting them at 4-1 inside the Northeast-10 Conference.

After scoring the final four points of the first half to nab a six-point edge at the break, Pace broke the game open with a 15-2 run to start the third quarter.

The Setters' hot start to the second half helped them build their lead to as high as 24 points with less than a minute remaining in the third. An even fourth quarter resulted in the 21-point margin of victory for the Blue and Gold.

Pace's duo of Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) and Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) once again led the way for the visitors on Saturday. In addition to each notching a game-high 19 points, they combined for 18 rebounds and six assists.

DelliSanti served as Pace's top rebounder as she posted her sixth double-double of the season courtesy of 11 boards.

Sophomore Kelsey Quain (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) also finished in double figures, pouring in a season-high 12 points on four made three-pointers.

Classmate Lauren Hackett (Commack, N.Y./St. Anthony's) filled the stat sheet as well, registering eight points, six assists and five rebounds.

Collectively, the Setters had terrific success on the boards. Pace piled up a 43-29 advantage under the glass against the Owls.

Pace's defense was also stout versus SCSU, limiting the home team to 34.6 percent shooting from the field.
