PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In a battle of two of the top teams in the Northeast-10 Conference standings, the Pace University women's basketball team was defeated by 24
th-ranked Bentley University on Saturday by a score of 74-61. The loss moves the Setters' record to 13-5 overall, and 6-3 inside the NE10.
Pace's duo of
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School) and
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, N.Y./Commack) piloted the offense on Saturday. The pair combined for more than half of the Setters' points as Schetter poured in a team-high 16 while DelliSanti followed with 15.
DelliSanti also put together four assists and four rebounds, while Schetter chipped in a pair of blocks. DelliSanti and Schetter continue to each rank in the top-10 of the NE10 in both scoring and rebounding this season.
Freshman
Fiona Mullen (Orangeburg, N.Y./Tappan Zee) served as Pace's third scorer with a career-high nine points on 3-of-6 shooting, while junior
Naya Rivera (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland) led the Setters in both rebounds (8) and steals (2).
It was a tale of two halves for Pace on Saturday. Despite outscoring the Falcons by 10 points in the fourth quarter, a 48-25 first-half deficit proved to be too much for the Setters.
Pace's defense after halftime fueled the comeback. Bentley shot just 9-of-27 (33%) from the field across the final 20 minutes, including 1-for-6 from three-point range.
