WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Pace University volleyball team opened its 2019 season on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 defeat (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) to Holy Family University.
The Setters' attack was led by sophomore
Sandra Yang (Bothell, Wash./Edmonds-Woodway), who racked up a team-high nine kills.
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, Hawaii/Iolani) and
Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) followed with six kills apiece.
Senior
Samantha Nidini (Houston, Texas/Clearlake) and sophomore
Katy Motz (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) served as the facilitators for Pace, combining for 19 assists. Nidini also chipped in nine digs to finish just shy of a double-double.
Senior
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) posted Pace's top dig total with 11, while Motz led the Setters with a pair of service aces.

The Blue and Gold will return to action tomorrow afternoon with a pair of matches once again at West Chester University. Pace takes on Goldey-Beacom College at noon before facing the host Rams at 2 p.m.
