ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Playing their final contest of a three-match weekend, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated by Daemen College on Sunday by a final margin of 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-21).
It was a balanced attack that led the way for the Setters against the Wildcats. Three players registered at least five kills on the day, led by Tatjana Calimpong-Burke's (Waianae, Hawaii/Iolani) seven.
Freshman Brielle Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) and sophomore Sandra Yang (Bothell, Wash./Edmonds-Woodway) also supplied solid offense, combining for 12 putaways. Senior Samantha Nidini (Houston, Texas/Clearlake) occupied the passing duties for Pace, tallying a team-high 14 assists.
Yang also recorded a team-best three service aces for the Blue and Gold. On the defensive side of things, senior Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) racked up a team-best 10 digs.
