PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Seeing their first action of the season inside the Goldstein Fitness Center, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated by the College of Saint Rose in five sets on Wednesday night.
The Setters were red-hot to begin their home debut, picking up 25-21 and 25-20 victories in the opening two sets of the match. Saint Rose responded by nabbing the final three frames of the night, 25-21, 25-19 and 15-8.
Sophomore
Sandra Yang (Bothell, Wash./Edmonds-Woodway) put together a career night for the Blue and Gold, registering 18 kills on a .240 hitting percentage. She also hammered a match-high eight service aces.
Freshman
Brielle Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) impressed on the Pace attack as well with a season-best eight putaways. Juniors
Christal Wong (Elk Grove, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks) and
Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) each finished the night with six kills.
Sophomore
Nicole Pivetti (Modena, Italy/Liceo Wiligelmo) picked up her first career double-double in the defeat. Pivetti piled up a team-high 21 assists while also notching 10 digs.
Speaking of digs, senior
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) posted a team-best 21 of them.
