EASTON, Mass. – Playing another nationally ranked team on the road, the Pace University field hockey team was edged by No. 7 Stonehill on Saturday afternoon, 6-2.
The Skyhawks' victory was fueled by a 4-0 stretch to begin the game, which included back-to-back goals from Emma Mawn in the second quarter.
Pace's offense was supplied by freshman Emily Korniak (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and sophomore Danielle Merante (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas). Korniak put in her first career goal in the 29th minute while Merante notched her third tally of the season in the 47th.
Freshman Lauren Rabinowitz (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) earned the assist on the Setters' first tally while sophomore Chloe Mayhew (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) picked up the helper in the second half.
Pace goalkeeper Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) put together nine saves in net, upping her stop total to 59 this season (fifth in the NE10).
