NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Beginning a three-match weekend, the Pace University volleyball team was defeated at Southern Connecticut State on Friday night by a score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-20).
Freshman Brielle Jones (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) was Pace's top offensive performer versus the Owls, tallying a team-best six kills.
Four other Setters posted at least three putaways on the night, including Sandra Yang (Bothell, Wash./Edmonds-Woodway), Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, Hawaii/Iolani), Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa), and Hildur Davidsdottir (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland/). Samantha Nidini (Houston, Texas/Clearlake) and Katy Motz (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) combined for 15 assists. Â
Defensively, senior Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) piled up a team-high 16 digs while Nidini, Calimpong-Burke, Byrne, and Christal Wong (Elk Grove, Calif./Cosumnes Oaks) each recorded a block.
