Pace Softball Falls Twice at No. 16 SNHU

Hooksett, N.H. – Facing a nationally ranked opponent on the road, the Pace University softball team was swept in a doubleheader by No. 16 Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

Game One Recap – SNHU 3, Pace 1
The Setters scored the game's opening run in the second inning off an RBI single from Jillian Gartner (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito Academy). Senior Annie Carberry (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) scored on the play after leading off the frame with a single to centerfield.

Pace's lead lasted until the fifth inning when the Penmen tied the contest on a solo home run from Erin Garczynski. SNHU would then tack on two more runs in the sixth off an RBI double from Gabriella Vachon.

Freshman Kate Dolinski (Fort Langley, B.C./Yale Secondary) was dealt the loss in the circle after allowing the three runs in a complete-game effort.

Game Two Recap – SNHU 4, Pace 0
The Setters were only able to put together three hits in the second game of the day. SNHU's Olivia Strasser, who ranks third in the NE10 in ERA this season, improved to 8-1 with a complete-game shutout.

After a scoreless opening three innings, SNHU put runs across in each of the next three. After a sac fly began the scoring in the fourth, a two-run home run broke the game open in the fifth inning.
